Connect WhatsApp
Link a WhatsApp Business number so you can follow up with customers long after the DM.
Before you start
- A phone number that isn't currently registered on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app (or one you're happy to move).
- Access to that phone to receive a verification code.
- A Facebook Business account (you can create one during setup).
- 1
Open Settings → WhatsApp
In your Gorillagram dashboard go to Settings and choose WhatsApp, then click Get started.
- 2
Sign in with Facebook
A setup window opens. Sign in with Facebook and choose (or create) the business account WhatsApp will belong to.
- 3
Add your display name
Enter the business name customers will see. It should match your brand and website, or it may be rejected.
- 4
Verify your number
Enter your phone number and choose text or call. Type the 6-digit code you receive to verify it.
If the number is on the WhatsApp app, delete that account first in the app's Settings → Account.
- 5
Create a message template
To message customers first, WhatsApp needs approved templates. Go to WhatsApp → Templates, write your follow-up (e.g. a voucher or link) and submit. Approval usually takes minutes.
- 6
Add WhatsApp to your automation
Open your comment automation and, after the DM step, add Send WhatsApp message using your approved template. Only send to contacts who've opted in.
Troubleshooting
My template was rejected
Avoid vague wording and too many variables. Say clearly who you are and why you're messaging, then resubmit.
Do customers need to opt in?
Yes. Ask in the DM whether they'd like updates on WhatsApp and only message those who say yes.
Can I message customers later on?
Yes — unlike social DMs, you can reach opted-in contacts on WhatsApp at any time using approved templates.
